Searching and Selecting an Opportunity
In order to attach and utilize an S2S opportunity, a user must navigate to the S2S Opportunity Search tab in the proposal and click the 'Find an opportunity' button. Please note, the S2S tab will only be active for proposals that have a Federal sponsor selected.
Once you click on the 'Find an opportunity' button, you can search for available Grants.gov opportunities by Package ID, Opportunity ID, Competition ID, and/or ALN Number (formerly CFDA). The Domain indicates that the search will point to the Grants.gov servers. Grants.gov will search for most of the 26 federal agency postings. The Opportunity ID is the Funding Opportunity Number (FOA) designated by the sponsor for the posted Grants.gov opportunity. The ALN is the Assistance Listing Number that may be assigned to the FOA. If the FOA doesn't have an assigned ALN, you can leave this field blank when searching.
Once you click Search, you can review the listings in the search results window. The list table may include information in the following categories to help you identify your selection: ALN Number and Program Title Name (if any), Opening Date, Closing Date, Package ID, Opportunity ID, Opportunity Title, Competition ID, Competition Title, Schema URL, and Instruction Page.
If the result set is large, you may need to scroll down the window and use the page selector tool to see more of the result set. You can also click the Refine Search button to revise your search criteria and perform another search. You can also simply exit the window via the Close button if you don't find what you're looking for.
But if you find the desired Opportunity you can click the ‘select’ button to return it to your proposal and then view the opportunity details that will be saved to the proposal’s Opportunity Search screen.
Removing or Changing an Opportunity
Once the opportunity is returned, the Opportunity panel will display information for that specific funding opportunity. The linked opportunity can also be removed or changed at any time while the proposal is still in progress. You can completely delete the opportunity via the 'Remove opportunity' button. The 'Change opportunity' will take you back to the Opportunity Search for you to find a different opportunity to replace it.
Notes
- Mandatory forms that aren't supported by Kuali will validate as required when turning on system validations or when attempting to submit. You can download the GG form from the Forms tab and then complete/upload as a User Attached form to include in the submission (more information in the S2S - User Attached Forms article).
- In non-production Kuali environments (i.e. sandbox) the Opportunity lookup points to Grants.gov training/testing servers. Many test opportunities are available with 00.000 ALN. Specific Grants.gov test opportunities can be found on their Search Grants training site: https://training.grants.gov/web/grants/search-grants.html. NIH also has a number of test opportunities that are found on their testing information website: https://grants.nih.gov/grants/ElectronicReceipt/system_testing.htm
