Overview
The Appointment Type maintenance document is used to create new and maintain existing Appointment Types used for the budget tool in Kuali research. The Appointment Type indicates the time period of the employee's appointment and impacts the calculation of requested salary in the budget. More information on how this calculation occurs can be found in the Proposal Budget - Project Personnel article.
Adding/Modifying Appointment Type
When editing or adding new Appointment Types the below fields are available:
- Appointment Type Code - Enter a numeric value to uniquely represent and identify the appointment type in the system; field is required.
- Duration - Enter a value to identify the duration of the appointment; field is required.
- Description - Enter the textual name of the appointment type; field is required.
- Start Date - If you want to utilize the Automate lines for Appointment functionality then you can specify the specific Start Date for the appointment type (more information can be found in the (Proposal Budget - Assign Personnel to Periods article). This start date would be used in the line item added if the Automate lines for Appointment checkbox is checked. This functionality only exists for Proposal Budget.
- End Date - If you want to utilize the Automate lines for Appointment functionality then you can specify the specific End Date for the appointment type (more information can be found in the (Proposal Budget - Assign Personnel to Periods article). This End date would be used in the line item added if the Automate lines for Appointment checkbox is checked. This functionality only exists for Proposal Budget.
- Budget Period Type - If you want to utilize the Automate lines for Appointment functionality then you can specify the specific Budget Period Type for the appointment type (more information can be found in the (Proposal Budget - Assign Personnel to Periods article). This Budget Period Type would be used in the line item added if the Automate lines for Appointment checkbox is checked. This functionality only exists for Proposal Budget.
