Overview
If you are a hosted customer with Kuali Research then system reports are available on the Reports tab to users with the appropriate permissions. The permission required to enable the Report tab option for a user is 'Run Global Reports' which is a part of the 'Run Global Reports' and 'KC SuperuserOSP' roles by default - but be aware this will give access to all reports within the Reports tab. These reports are only available to hosted customers currently and not to on-premise implementations.
Be aware if using Safari browser you will need to set your Privacy Settings to allow cross-site tracking. Safari->Preferences->Privacy->Uncheck “Prevent cross-site tracking”. Also, we use cookies in the Kuali Reporting tool - instructions on how to enable cookies in each browser can be found in the Enabling Cookies section at the end of this article.
Navigation
You can select one of the preconfigured reports from the list in the Dashboards menu on the left. This will pull up a report with multiple widgets, showing different visualizations of the type of data selected.
Filters
You can filter the report data using the Filters panel on the right, where the filter selections are displayed as checkboxes, or for longer lists, may simply show as an Include All button. Clicking Include All will give you the option to edit that filter, search for a particular value, or make multiple selections.
A de-selected value, to be filtered out of the reports, will show on a red background, rather than a yellow one.
You can also filter data by selecting a particular value in a bar or column chart (for example, a fiscal year or a lead unit), which will highlight that value across all other widgets that use it. You can clear the filter by clicking the same selection again, or clicking on Clear Selection.
To expand a specific widget to full screen, click on the diagonal arrows icon on the right side of the widget title bar.
Bar charts with a long list of categories (for example, one showing all of your departments) have an additional navigation feature that allows you to zoom in on a specific selection. The navigation bar, designed to look like a condensed version of the larger bar chart, will appear directly to the left of the chart. You can slide the selector up and down to show more or less of the data.
Exporting Your Data
You can export the entire dashboard, or individual widgets within it, by clicking the three dots icon on the right side of the dashboard or widget title bar. Selecting Download in this menu will give you the option to export the dashboard as an image or a PDF, or to export the widget as an image or a CSV file.
Data Views
The Data folder contains all the same reports as the Classic folder, but formatted in a data table view rather than as graphs and other visualizations. All of the same filters are available for these views on the right side of your screen.
To control which columns are visible, expand the widget by clicking the Full Screen button in the upper left corner. In the Full Screen view, you can use the Columns sidebar on the left to remove columns from the widget, and to see which column is currently being used to sort the data.
In this example, the Institution and Grandparent Unit columns are hidden, and the data is sorted by Award Number.
