We're updating the review functionality for Reportable Events in Protocols to improve the user experience and the feedback and commenting capabilities for Admins, Reviewers, and Researchers. These updates will be available starting 12/15/2024 and the changes are outlined below - more information can also be found in the Protocols - Reportable Events article.
Feedback
All communication (Researcher or Reviewer) is now displayed to the appropriate users in the Feedback section at the top of the Reportable Event.
Researcher Communication
The Researcher Communication is visible to all users with access to the protocol and associated Reportable Event (Researchers, Reviewers, Admins). This is where dialogue can occur between the researchers and Admin staff during the review cycle of the Reportable Event. When the researcher takes the Submit for Review action they can add a comment which will show up in the Researcher Communication section. Further comments can be added to Researcher Communication by researchers and admins via the Submit Comment button option in the Reportable Event.
Reviewer Communication
Assigned Reviewers for Reportable Events will have the option to review the Reportable Event and add their review comments via the Add Review button. These comments will go into the Reviewer Communication section of Feedback and only be visible to other Reviewers and Admins (not researchers). Once the initial 'Add Review' is taken by the Reviewer the status of their review goes to Complete - but the reviewer can add additional comments to the Reviewer Communication via the Add Review button while the Reportable Event is still outstanding.
Also, all reviewer assignments and reviewer actions are anonymized in the Activity Log for the Reportable Event so it's not visible to the researchers. We've also added additional logic to prevent any person listed as personnel in the protocol from being selectable as a Reviewer in the Reportable Event (to match the protocol reviewer assignment logic).
