We wanted to make you aware of newly released NASA COI regulations taking effect as of
December 1, 2023 that may have implications for those using Kuali COI. Pursuant to the newly released NASA COI requirements Kuali recommends making the following changes to your COI configurations in addition to any form or policy changes you make to accommodate the NASA COI requirements:
- If you currently require disclosure for all grants and cooperative agreements then no changes to your project configurations is required.
- If you limit COI project disclosure to only sponsors that maintain a COI disclosure requirement then you should add all NASA sponsors in your sponsor list to your federal COI sponsor hierarchy (Showing a screenshot of how to find this in the system would be helpful for schools with less formal system administration staffing).
- If you have progressive disclosure in your form that displays different screening questions to researchers based on which sponsors are represented in their active projects then you will need to add your NASA sponsors to the Sponsor Hierarchy linked to the questions you want your NASA researchers to answer on your form. (I am planning on completing the COI template video soon, which will just focus on the few things that are different from protocol template editing. I can be sure to include this specific use case so we can share the video with this guidance)
