I’m writing to announce a series of exciting changes on the horizon for the Kuali Research community. Over the course of this year, in partnership with the Kuali Foundation, we’ve challenged ourselves to think critically about how we can continue to evolve both our product and our community to not only solve the problems of today, but to anticipate the problems of tomorrow.
The result is a series of related projects that I’ll describe here, and which we’ll be talking about in more detail at our Kuali Research Community Meeting Day in November. Our Community Meeting Day will replace our user groups for Q4.
Research Modernization Project
Kuali is embarking on an ambitious project to further modernize and unify all the parts of the Kuali Research suite. This is a large project that will ultimately result in:
- a more deeply connected suite of products that integrates well internally and externally to form a central hub for research activity.
- tools that help people work together more effectively through additional features for collaboration and communication
- enhanced capability that surfaces the right data at the right time for the right job
- more user-friendly validations and safeguards to ensure compliance
To achieve this, we will build on concepts and processes that already exist within the current research suite and integrate new functionality being developed by teams across our company. Learn more about our Research Modernization project here (login required).
Kuali Community Neighborhoods
Our recent survey of community members on the topics of user groups and use of our support portal reveals that many of you deeply value connections with your peers who are working through the same business process and domain challenges that you’re facing. In order to better support these community connections, we’re reorienting our user groups away from feature development and roadmap updates, which will be provided through our enhanced support portal, and toward peer to peer discussions oriented around communities of practice, which we’re calling Neighborhoods. Each neighborhood will have a dedicated community forum (login required), as well as a quarterly call to provide community members with the opportunity to talk about business processes and system usage. Community calls will be facilitated by Kuali Community Ambassadors, in partnership with members of the Kuali team.
Kuali Community Ambassadors
We are very excited to roll out our Community Ambassadors program. These volunteers will play a special role, serving as peer points of contact for our growing community. They will lead quarterly neighborhood calls, help monitor conversation in the neighborhood forums, and serve as a peer point of contact for new community members. If you’d like to serve as a Kuali Community Ambassador, or you’d like to learn more, let me know! As we assemble our inaugural class of ambassadors, you’ll find their names here (login required)!
Enhanced Kuali Research Support Portal
In order to provide you with clear, timely information about what our teams are working on, what we’ve released recently, and updates about our Research Modernization Project, we’ve enhanced our Kuali Research Support Portal. Take a tour of our new Roadmap and Release section, and visit our revised Community Forums (login required). Check out our new Ideas forum, where we’ve aggregated new feature ideas and suggestions contributed by our community members across all areas of our suite for ongoing review by our product teams. Be sure to follow the new forums so you get notified of any updates!
Kuali Research Community Day
We are thrilled to invite you to our inaugural Kuali Research Community Meeting Day. Over the course of a day in November, we’ll bring you up to speed on the initiatives we’ve talked about here, introduce you to our Community Ambassadors, and take you on a tour of the resources available to you on our Support Portal. You’ll get a sneak peak at early designs for our research modernization project and hear from some guest speakers. We’ll even share some information about our full Kuali Days conference taking place in early 2022. Stay tuned for more information!
I can’t wait to continue the conversation with you about these initiatives. I’d love to hear from you. Reach out to share your thoughts.
