If you have a suggestion for an improvement to our product, submit it to our product ideas forum. Here are some suggested questions and details to include in your post when submitting a new idea, feature, or enhancement request. We love hearing about ways we can improve. While we can’t promise we’ll build everything, we will consider every idea based on current priorities, broader market appeal, and the ability of our modernization project as a solution. More information on our modernization effort can be found here.
Details to Include
- Your Institution
- Kuali module or product
- The business process, problem, or pain-point: What's your team's pain-point? How does this prohibit them or delay them in completing their work?
- Proposed solution: Describe your suggested solution.
Optional Details to Include
- Person(s) or group(s) experiencing the problem/pain-point: Any specific job role or responsibilities, frequency in Kuali, any description of how Kuali fits into their work
- Duration of problem/pain-point: Is this resultant of a new business process? a recently released feature? something that has been around awhile that you have a new idea for?
- Severity of the problem/pain-point: Does this prohibit you from complying with federal regulations? Is this delaying research regularly? Does it make it harder for someone to do their daily work
- Other institutions with similar problem/pain-point: Are you aware of other institutions who are experiencing this problem? Are you aware of how other institutions are addressing this or a similar problem? We encourage you to tag colleagues you've talked to at other institutions who might have a similar experience or would like to see a similar solution.
Idea Review Process
A product team member will review your idea and assign one of the following labels. We may reach out with further questions, requests for user interviews, or follow-up conversations.
- Exploring: This idea and/or problem aligns with the broader community and market. While it's not on our immediate roadmap, we have captured these details in our prioritization framework and are considering it for future roadmap prioritization. Most new functionality will be analyzed in our modernization effort (more info here). At this stage, we invite conversation from the community about the idea while we're researching it further and considering whether it’s a problem we can solve through a product enhancement.
- Selected for Roadmap: We prioritized working to solve this problem within the next 6 months. We're in or about to enter active discovery where we explore solutions, including your suggestion, which would align with business processes at other institutions, broader market appeal, industry best practices, and our strategic business direction. We understand that there could be many ways to address a single problem and there is often not a single, best solution. We strive to measure and compare effectiveness of each solution and it's feasibility to determine the best direction forward.
- Completed/Answered: We have released a solution addressing this problem or the specific question/request has been answered.. Further details on released features are typically in release notes or the Knowledge Base.
- Not Planned: After considering the idea and/or problem, we’ve determined it doesn't align the Kuali's long term business goals. We will add an explanation so you understand why we’ve decided not to move forward with it.
