Overview
Institutions need to maintain unit hierarchies to drive Protocol and Conflict of Interest Permissions. Institutions using the Kuali Compliance modules along with the Sponsored Programs modules can use the Unit Hierarchy to Groups Integration function to keep their Sponsored Programs and Compliance unit hierarchies in sync. Institutions who are only using the Kuali Compliance modules need to maintain their unit hierarchy in the Kuali Groups system. A user needs to have the Admin role in their User account to complete the steps below.
Adding a New Unit
Next navigate to http://{Your School's Kuali domain}/groups.
Example http://miskatonic.kuali.co/groups
The Groups display will show you the various levels of your hierarchy.
Click on the level of the hierarchy you want to add a new Group to and press New Group
Complete the Following Fields
- Name: The Name of the Unit
- Category: This will default to the level of the hierarchy you navigated to at the beginning of the exercise. You can change this if it is incorrect.
- Roles: Add any permissions that need to be assigned for this unit.
- Unit Number: Enter in the identifying code for your unit.
- Active: Check this box so the unit is available for new documents.
- Hierarchy: Select parent unit that your new unit reports up to.
Press Done.
