New Protocols Triage Role

Overview

Tomorrow we'll be pushing out the below new roles for Protocol available in Kuali Groups:

• IRB Triage
• IACUC Triage

Similar to the recently added IRB System Configurer & IACUC System Configurer roles this additional Triage role offers more access configurability to the Kuali Protocols system.  This role can be used for users handling intake in an IRB/IACUC office so they can review and access incoming protocols but not have full rights to take admin functions.  Below outlines the permissions for each role.

IRB Triage 

For IRB protocols within Lead Unit of user's designated group, they can:

• view protocols in in their Manage Protocols list
• Add/Edit/View Review Assignments
• Print
• View Admin Attachments
• View Reportable Events and:
  • Add/Edit/View Review Assignments
  • View activity log

IACUC Triage

For IACUC protocols within Lead Unit of user's designated group, they can:

• view protocols in in their Manage Protocols list
• Add/Edit/View Review Assignments
• Print
• View Admin Attachments
• View Reportable Events and:
  • Add/Edit/View Review Assignments
  • View activity log

Users with these roles cannot:

• Return, Require Revisions, Approve, or make other determinations on a protocol or a reportable event
• Manage Committees or meetings
• View or add action items

These new triage roles will be available in Kuali Groups but by default no users will be populated.  More information on roles available for protocols and how to configure them can be found in the Managing Protocol Permissions article. Also, please note these new roles apply to Protocols application at the Highest group level.
