Consistent Labeling Changes in Sponsored Programs

Overview

Last summer there was a concern raised in a community forum post that there is currently a discrepancy between field labeling in Sponsored Programs modules. Sections of Proposal are labeled 'Compliance' and 'Supplemental Info' whereas in all other modules these are labeled 'Special Review' and 'Custom Data.' 

We’ve been aware that these needed to be unified but Kuali wasn’t sure which labeling was more desirable. Through our discussions in the user groups, it became clear that the most important factor was to provide a lack of disruptive behavior for faculty. Therefore, starting next week Proposal, Negotiations, Institutional Proposal, Award and Subaward will be updated to reference 'Compliance' and 'Supplemental Info' where appropriate.  Since Proposal is more regularly used by faculty it won't change their experience and only users in the central offices will see the changes in the modules they use daily.  We hope this provides a better and more consistent experience.
