Summary
The budgetPersonDefaultAppointmentType Parameter allows institutions to define what the default Appointment Type should be for a new person added to the Budget → Project Personnel section if the person being added does not have any active Appointments with Appointment Type data maintained in their Person Extended Attributes.

Example
If the budgetPersonDefaultAppointmentType Parameter is set to 6 (in my example, Appointment Type Code 6 = 12M DURATION) and the person does not have any active Appointments with Appointment Type data stored in their Person Extended Attributes, then in Budget → Project Personnel section, the person being added will have his/her Appointment Type default to 12M DURATION:

If the Person being added to Budget → Project Personnel section has active Appointments with Appointment Type data stored in their Person Extended Attributes, then the Person's Appointment Type will be populated based on the data in their Person Extended Attributes and not based on the value indicated in the budgetPersonDefaultAppointmentType Parameter.
